Psoriasis

The doctor’s explanation on psoriasis:

If you suffer from psoriasis, you know the discomfort that this disease causes. You have tried a certain number of treatments, but none have really produced an improvement to the red blotches, of the pelliculaire skin and the itching from which you suffer.

To-day there is an effective alternative to the locally applied creams, PUVA therapy and oral medication.
A treatment which permits you to rapidly return to a normal and active daily life

Some questions/responses on laser treatment:

How does the laser function ?

The technology of the colouring pulse laser is particularly adapted for the treatment of psoriasis, because it eliminates the selective way the small blood vessels which supply the formation of psoriasis plaques. Once the vessel is eliminated, the formation of plaques slow in a significant way until they are temporarily interrupted.

Can all types of psoriasis be treated ?

The colouring pulse laser is ideal to treat local and stable soriasis plaques which are typical for a week and medium form of psoriasis.

How many sessions are necessary ?

One can observe some results in two or three weeks after treatment.
In principle, five to six sessions are recommended with a repetition every month.

Is the treatment difficult ?

No, it consists of two stages:
- The day of the treatment, your doctor will cover the zones to be treated with a special fluid which increases the receptivity of the laser. A square of skin of 10cm, which corresponds to a typical zone of treatment , will take some minutes to treat.

Is the treatment painful ?

A slight unpleasantness is felt during the treatment.
Most patients describe it like an elastic that snaps on the skin. But the doctor can alleviate this effect and even avoid it using a local anaesthetic or cooling the treated zone with ice or a system of cooling to cold air.

Can insurance be used for the charges for this treatment ?

In principle you will be charged a fixed price for the whole treatment. As it is a specific treatment for the elimination of vascular and vessel plaques, certain insurance companies cover the treatment under the same heading as other vascular lesions such as warts or red wine marks.

How safe are the colouring pulse lasers ?

Since 1983 colouring pulse lasers have been used to treat red wine marks and some angiomes even with children of a very young age.
